Riverdale-Porterdale
Our Mission
To sustain and enhance the beauty and dignity of Riverdale, Porterdale and East Porterdale Cemeteries; to emphasize the shared heritage of the region while embracing the cultural and ethnic diversity of the families represented here; and, to promote educational efforts highlighting the historical significance of those buried here.
The Foundation
The Riverdale–Porterdale Cemetery Foundation is a dedicated group of Columbus residents united by a shared commitment to these three historic, city-owned cemeteries.
For some, that connection is personal — family members laid to rest here. For others, it is rooted in a deep respect for the unique heritage and cultural significance these grounds represent.
Together, we work to protect, improve, and promote these landscapes as places of remembrance, reflection, and local history.

Our Work
Since 2006, the Foundation has invested in landscape enhancements, preservation projects, educational initiatives, and long-term planning.
Recent accomplishments include the restoration of the 1915 Riverdale Building, now a welcoming space for gatherings and the display of artifacts representing all three cemeteries. We also produce a printed brochure and semi-annual newsletters that share the stories, history, and ongoing efforts connected to these sacred places.
